This weekend, Ian insulated as I painted eves. I got most of the way around the upper portion of our roof. Ian was putting rigid insulation in a small area above our entryway. If it's filled with rigid insulation we don't need to vent the space. We're in wildland interface, so have limited vent options. Rigid insulation seemed to be the way to go. We also went fireplace shopping. To all my readers out there, please comment. What do you want in fireplace? What would you tell someone at a fireplace store that you're looking for. For me, it really all came down to "I want a thing that children can hang stockings by with care." That's it. I don't plan to ever use the thing to heat my house except in a power outage. So it's decoration. How do you shop for something that you really hope to never use at a store where the sales person believes he's selling you an amazing appliance?

Conduit
Conduit is installed for the future solar array. There is still a lot to do, but this will keep us from having to run the conduit visibly on the outside of the house.

Rush After the Storm
The weatherproofing did a decent job keeping things dry considering it was temporary. We are putting in some insulation today. More plumbing will be starting. Multiple inspections are scheduled for Thursday. Things are moving along.

Rain in the forecast
We have rain coming in for the next few days. There is a tarp covering our roof. For the first time in a long time I feel like we have something we can tarp, and I think the tarp will be keeping our house more rain tight than it has been in a long time. We'll see how it does. Lots of prayers that the worst of the rain will miss Marin and our house and go to areas that have had far less rain in this drought and need it more.

Porch and Tam
The porch is coming together and I love how Mt Tam sits just off to the side of the raised area over the living room.

Concrete and Eves
On Saturday, Ian worked on breaking out an old piece of concrete while I painted the eves. It felt so good to have something to paint.
On Sunday, we formed up rebar and repoured the old piece of concrete.
