I got home today and Ian told me to go take pictures of the "baby coffins" in our basement.  The holes are for the shoring that are going to support our house while the new foundation is built.  

More light in kitchen

When I got home yesterday there was amazing light in the kitchen.  The porch had been demoed!  Seeing how much more light there was got me really excited about the new layout!

The work actually started!  Our basement floor is being demoed.  I got home today and the garage smelled amazingly earthy.  Once I got downstairs I understood why.

The only sign of progress yesterday was new spray paint on the street for the Underground Service Alert.  They should be starting piers this week to support our foundation.

It's finally happening.  The permit application was submitted months ago.  Over a year of planning before that. We finally "pulled" our permit on Wednesday, and our contractors are itching to start.  A storage container was delivered on Saturday and we spent the weekend clearing out the basement and moving as much as we had time for into the container. Today the job site toilet is delivered, and contractors come to start work on the foundation.  It's really happening.
